Our Government and Industry Affairs team and committee actively lobbies on regulatory and legislative activities of the federal and state governments that may impact livestock marketing businesses. They are also responsible for oversight of industry issues and polices outside the marketing sector, which would have potential or real effect on LMA's member livestock marketing businesses. Issues typically covered include Packers & Stockyards Act requirements, animal welfare/rights, animal health, animal identification, market competition, domestic and foreign trade, environmental regulations, livestock emergency planning, commodity checkoff programs,  market news and price reporting.
